The common grass yellow (Eurema hecabe)

Eurema hecabe contubernalis or the common grass yellow is the commonest butterfly in the eastern tropics. It occurs in southeast and east Asia, and Australia. This small bright yellow pierid is the most familiar butterfly in Malaysia. It can be found in all places from suburban areas to the primary jungle. It abundant in the lowland, and it is common in the mountains up to about 2000 m.

Eurema hecabe can often be found congregating at moist spots on forest roads and river banks.
