The lemon emigrant (Catopsilia pomona)

Catopsilia pomona pomona or the lemon emigrant is one of the most common butterfly in Peninsular Malaysia. It occurs in the villages, sub-urban areas, and secondary and primary jungles at elevations up to 1000 m. It is named after the color of its wings and its habit of migration. It is found in several forms and at least 6 variants are recorded in Malaysia.

Catopsilia pomona is commonly found congregating on moist spots along jungle path and river bank. Male hilaria form at Pos Brooke, Kelantan, Malaysia.

A male alcemeone form from the same locality as above. The alcemeone form lacks the red ring spots and has black antennae.
